A case of the blues...



Do you ever have those few days or a couple of weeks even where you just feel down, unmotivated and poopy for no particular reason?
I've felt like that over the past couple of weeks now. It's really ridiculous because my life is pretty much perfect right now and I love it, I have no logical reason to be feeling low.
I'm guessing it's an over-generous dose of PMT, so reading Gala Darlings  'The Ultimate Guide to making your period suck less' has helped a little.

Today I've decided to start writing a gratitude diary.
So every day, either when I'm at work or before bed, I'm going to jot down a couple of things I am grateful for, or good things that happened that day. It can be something really tiny like a particularly tasty latte, or something funny someone said to me. Then next time I'm feeling poopy, I can look back and see a huge list of reasons not to feel so poopy. A couple of things I've popped in there today are Stef making me breakfast, and making friends with a lovely little old lady in the que for the doctors this morning.

In another attempt to cheer myself up, today I've been basking in the combination of Vogue, tea, and a jammy flapjack. I'm planning on a bubble bath and facemask later. That should help do the trick.

I'm looking forward to feeling a bit more like myself again. My poor, poor fiance, putting up with my monstrous mood lately... (thank you!)

What do you guys do to cheer yourselves up if you’re feeling a little low or have raging PMT? Any tips, send them my way please :)

  4. get snuggling up to your hot water bottle! that's what I've been doing all night/day thats the only thing thats seems to help with my cramps, well that and a good cuppa tea! hope your okay xxx

  5. Aw lovely! Hope you're feeling a little better in a couple of days, the bath and face mask sound like a great idea! I always get terrible backache around that time of the month, so try and do some extra yoga/stretches and then just relax with a hot water bottle, cup of tea, some chocolate digestives and some of my favourite blogs!

Ah I've done something similar to this after receiving a sketching pad from my Dad at Christmas and realizing that I cannot draw its become a positives diary for 2013, just a sentence with the date if anything good happens on each page. I'm hoping it will be something I enjoy looking back on in the years to come. :-) Hope you feel better soon. SX

  8. i usually just carb-load. not good for the diet.. at all. crisps are my weakness. haha :) but i completely get how you're feeling! a gratitude diary sounds so sweet - i need to start being more positive and remember what is good in my life. keep the spirits up! hope you feel better soon hannah!

  10. My cheer up is pretty much Tea, Magazine and a Hot Bath :) I love it!! That or jamming in my pjs watching One Tree Hill! :)

  11. I feel like this all the time recently! I keep trying to remind myself that only I can change the way I feel and I usually feel better after reading we heart it's little life quotes :) x

  12. That's such a cute idea! I'm defintiely going to try that next time PMT gets in my way - I normally just give myself a bit retail therapy and then settle down in my onesie with a hot chocolate and a ron-com! If I'm really struggling to break my streak of productive-ness, then'll I'll write myself a whole to do list of things to do in a day and make sure I get through them all because it will make you feel so much better if you have a completely busy and productive day! I know it sounds weird, but it does really help! Hope you feel a bit happier soon :)

  14. I feel like this sometimes too. I find a nice cup of tea, chocolate and snuggly pjs helps. Failing that some retail therapy should do the trick x

  15. I ma feeling exactly the same for a combination of reasons, and anxiety has made an unwelcome return to my life. I am trying to just be nice to myself and hibernate in my house and cuddle my dogs and husband lots. Really hope the feelings pass for you soon and you feel happy again :)

  18. I had that s couple of months back. Watch an inspirational movie or just one that you love. She's the man is always a fun one to watch!!! Or legally blonde ;) (for chick flicks).

  19. Oh, I know that feeling so well... but I think everyone has those poopy days now and then. And I think it's a great idea to put everything good that happened during the day - I might do that as well ;) - because even the smallest things can make us happy and sometimes we forget about them over the bad things. It's a lovely idea! :) I find that drinking a hot chocolate/tea and distracting myself with my favorite series or blogs helps me a little when I'm at that time of the month.
    And I would like to say to you a few things that I hope they'll leave you feeling a little better :) I recently discovered your youtube channel and your blog and I must say that it became one of my daily reads! It's such a lovely blog and I really like your writing, the way you speak to your readers. You seem to be such a nice person so I honestly hope you feel better soon :) Have a nice day!
