Easter High Tea at the Gallery Mess in Chelsea

Being a huge fan of traditional high tea, when the lovely people from the Gallery Mess got in touch and very kindly asked if I'd like to go and sample their special Easter High Tea, I jumped at the chance.
Stef and I have eaten lunch in there a couple of times when we have been wondering around Chelsea, and it has never failed to impress us.

If you haven't been before, the Gallery Mess is a charming little restaurant/cafe/bar, all rolled into one, attached to the Saatchi Gallery. With it's exposed brickwork, an eclectic collection of sculptures and neon artwork dotted around, it has a really great contemporary feel to it. I especially love the fairy lights in the giant flower pots.

After meeting with the restaurant manager, we were given a selection of loose teas too choose from (I went for Earle Grey, Stef for Green Tea), and a couple of glasses of prosecco.
The Easter High Tea arrived on a gorgeous slate cake stand, very impressive.
The bottom layer had cucumber sandwiches, and salmon and egg on perfectly crisp little rolls. The top layer was full of Easter egg themed sweet treats, cakes and warm scones with jam and rich clotted cream. My favourite was a toss up between the chocolate teacake and the white chocolate egg with mousse inside, YUM!!
I must say, it certainly tasted just as good as it looked!

The Gallery Mess is the perfect place for brunch, with a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. In fact, we like it so much that we are even going to look into having our wedding party there.

Anyway, I'd definitely recommend the Easter high tea if you're in the area and fancy a little Easter treat. It's perfect for a girls brunch, date or family time.

Have you ever been to the Gallery Mess?

  2. This place looks amazing, I love the modern quirky touches mixed with the traditional afternoon tea - I've spied the Saatchi Gallery before but I've never been in. That will definitely have to change next time I'm in London.
