Rimmel Waterproof Mascara

naked lower lashes :( boohoo

Hey lovelies, I hope you've all had a great week?

Unfortunately,it's a bad review from me today. I purchased this Rimmel Volume Lash waterproof mascara on a whim at Gatwick airport, right before a trip to Ireland to learn how to surf (absolutely disastrous, if you're wondering why I didn't blog about surfing).
I don't normally like waterproof mascaras’ anyway, but seeing as I was going to be in the sea, I thought it was kind of necessary.

Firstly, it's NOT waterproof in the slightest. It ended up all down my face, which as I'm sure you can imagine, was really attractive.
Secondly, and most annoyingly, this is possible the slowest drying mascara IN THE WORLD. I put it on, then as soon as I move my eye I get black all around my eye. I actually gave up trying to apply this to my lower lashes as it was just a complete nightmare.
After the mascara has dried though, it actually doesn’t look bad at all, it takes two coats to get a nice lengthened effect, although I wouldn’t say it was very volumising. The fact that it’s supposed to be waterproof and isn’t, is still pretty bad.
I've tried to push through, as I find most mascaras normally perform better after they've been open a couple of weeks, but sadly, this is still a no go for me.
It's a shame as I've read a couple of really good reviews on some other mascaras in the Rimmel collection.
But for now, I think I'll stick to my safe higher end mascaras! This review was just a word of warning for any of you thinking of trying it...

Have you ever tried this mascara? How did you find it? Can you recommend me a good high street waterproof mascara for emergencies?

  5. I still cannot believe that companies are allowed to sell a product that doesn't do what it says it should do! I can't imagine anything worse than going surfing and having mascara in my eyes and running down my face, you should write a complaint letter!! :-) x

  6. This sounds so disappointing - I hate it when I find a product doesn't live up to my expectations! My favourite and best ever waterproof mascara is the L'Oreal Telescopic Waterproof, that baby seriously doesn't budge (although its a nightmare to take off). Unfortunately it is impossible to find these days and is apparently being discontinued - sob!
