I've been on the hunt for my perfect pale pink nail varnish ever since No.7 decided to discontinue my favourite (don't you just hate it when that happens?!).
So last night, whilst browsing the shelves of Covent Garden Pharmacy (my heaven), this little bottle of Essie goodness caught my eye...
I wouldn't normally dream of spending £9.95 on a nail varnish, but Ballet Slippers seemed to be the shade I'd been searching for, so I took the plunge.
I have to say, after one coat I wasn't impressed at all, it was very opaque and the formula is rather thin and watery. However, after application of the second coat, it turned into a gorgeous soft pink shade.
I'd describe it as the perfect gentle pink tone for a 'French Manicure', classic and timeless.
I really love the fact that this shade compliments a tan so well. If you read my blog regularly, you'll know by now I am a self confessed ‘tanorexic’, so this is important for me.
Oh, also, I think the name is so cute too (yes, I know that's shallow).
The only think I didn't love about it was the brush, I have quite wide nails so I like my brush to be big. But, this seems like a small price to pay considering this is my new favourite shade!
What are your thoughts on Essie nail varnishes? Have you tried Ballet Slippers?
Lovely colour. I've wanted this shade for ages now. very pretty xx
ReplyDeleteOhhhh Hannah! You've fallen into the old-Essie trap, go to Boots for the full diffusion range of 80 stunning shades with new, wider brushes for better application and they're only £7.99!

This is a gorgeous colour - probably a good thing its sheer but buildable, could be used for a french manicure or just on it's own. I think I have a Nails Inc shade similar to this I'll have to look out

I love Ballet Slippers, one of my favourite nail polishes x
ReplyDeleteIf you like shades like this you would love L'Oreal Opera Ballerina. I've lost count of how many bottles I've gone through now! I would buy Ballet Slippers but Essie polishes don't last more than a day on my nails.
